As I was indulging in my guiltiest pleasure I got to a picture of Paris Hilton and her alleged new boyfriend-- guess who..?

DOUG!!! Remember that guy from the The Hills that dated Lauren a few times but the spark just wasn't there anymore?! And then he went out with Stefanie (yeah, Spencer's sister) apparently because she reminded him of a LOST PUPPY!!? That's him.. complete IDIOT!

I heard this story on the radio this morning but I didn't put a face with the name-- NOW I GET IT!

I wish Paris would just find a real man and cut it out with these morons. Aside from her media personality as a bimbo, she's actually pretty intelligent && not much like the way she plays herself for the crowds. ANYWAY-- I don't see this lasting long.. It's almost a new rendition of when BRODY (also from The Hills) dated Nicole Richie. What was that about?

Steve-O: Sober && Dancing!

Steve-O, former Jackass stuntman and heavy drug user, is not only fresh out of rehab (and doing great, congrats!) but is on the TV show Dancing With The Stars. He is partnered with Lacey (if you remember her from So You Think You Can Dance). She's right when she says she's got the biggest job at transformation on the show.

I'll admit it-- Steve-O totally sucked and it was incredibly awkward watching him dance. Even though he didn't do anything funny, I was cracking up the whole time at how weird it was watching him be serious and normal. I think it was even more humours that Johnny Knoxville and Wee Man were in the audience cheering him on!

Anyway, The judges basically summed up all my feelings. Check it out for yourself.

Almost a Year..

Gosh, It's been almost a year since I've blogged on here and I don't know what I've been thinking!

I've tried to pursue other ventures and nothing is as satisfying as updating my OWN blog; Duh.

Anyway, First on my list of things to say is... BOOBY TASSLES! I adore Britney Spears and was really hoping to score tickets to her Circus Tour. However, I didn't have $1,000 to blow on tickets. Thankfully, I didn't even attempt any kind of tricks to make my way in to the show.. I just checked out some YouTube videos uploaded by those fortunate enough to see the show live. Wait-- Did I say fortunate? I meant ROBBED-- Britney, are you even singing for real? It sounds like your sound guys are just playing your CD in the background while you parade around the stage in less-than-flattering-clothing.

What I'm saying is--- I'll stick with belting out her tunes while I'm driving in the car and spare myself the cash to watch her lip-sync. But I am happy that she's back on her feet.

It's official-- Lauren Conrad, designer for the Lauren Conrad Collection and reality star of The Hills and the late Laguna Beach, will be showing her new line at LA Fashion Week Smashbox Studios in March.

I saw some of her pieces on the Tyra Banks Show a few months back and I like the designs; they are simple, versatile, and chic but are they worth the price tag? I don't think so. Dropping $135 on a LCC dress is not what I had in mind. For basics, the price point for LCC is too high.

HOWEVER, An inside pass to Bryant Park allowed us to see who was there...

Got a hot date tonight? It's a little late to try and go shopping for a cute outfit but here are some ideas that are easily replicable from anything you must have in your closet.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt-- at it again.

Is Heidi's video for real? If anyone isn't up to par, Heidi Montag, LC's ex-bff from The Hills, and her on-again-off-again fiance/manager made an amateur music video for her single "Higher." Not only is the video just Heidi in a bikini prancing around on the beach but the song is annoying as can be. I don't suggest you check out the video-- just take my word for it. The more you watch, the bigger their heads get. For example, refer to PerezHilton.com to see her response to all of the "comments" about her video. Her and Spencer had "no idea" that anyone thought negatively about her video.

They never fail to make me want to choke myself.

Rachel Zoe, celebrity stylist-- worked with Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, and Mischa Barton-- well known for accusations that she promoted poor body image for her younger clients insisting they keep a small figure in order to fit in to designer sample sizes so Zoe could score more free clothes for them. She was also rumored to be the "supply" for drug habits amongst young Hollywood. True or not true; all of that has nothing to do with how disgusting I think Rachel Zoe looks.

I had the "luxury" of meeting Zoe at Bryant Park about a year ago. Not only did she show up late for Michael Kors but she spoke with every camera crew on the way out. Her skin looks like leather and I'm tired of her dressing/acting like a 20-year-old-socialite-wannabe. I also remember reading a quote from Nicole Richie about her separation from Zoe; something like "I want to get rid of negative influences in my life..." and "I've never met a stylist that has a manager and a publicist..." I can admit it, Rachel Zoe has talent for making celebs. look fabulous; then again, that's what every stylist has a talent for. She also has a talent for really making me shake my head every time I see her.

Rachel, If you're paying any attention-- grow up, be the 45 year old woman that you are, stop tanning, and start eating.

Michael Kors is one of America's best and most well-known designers. Not only is he a knock out for Men's Fashion but his creative mind is always at work making innovative things for women. I love Michael so much because of his understanding that women want to go from work to dinner to the bar without bringing a wardrobe along for the night. His creations allow women (and men) to leave the office and still go out without looking like a frumpy office clerk.

I am disappointed in MK's most recent selections for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Bryant Park.

Britney Spears is having a hard time getting out of the lime light lately and for good reason. The roller coaster ride diva has been in and out of the court house (amongst other institutions) for the past few months in regards to the custody of her two sons. Now it seems she's moved on to other "news worthy" things. First of all, it's come about that her manager has been the one administering her medication, her father is allegedly moving in with her, her 16 year old sister is pregnant (and giving the baby to her Award Winning Mother) and a judge granted her leave from the psych. ward despite the pysch.'s "medical opinion" that she is still not well.

When is enough, enough?

I do not support the purchasing or production of fake/knock off hand bags.

With that said, I also dislike websites such as Bag Borrow or Steal, Shoulder Candy, and other websites that allow people to "rent" expensive designer hand bags. If you're going to use a handbag for one week and then return it--- is it really worth almost a hundred dollars? Just for that one week? Then every week after that is another 60-something dollars... you might as well just save your money, buy the real deal, and use it everyday for the next three months and totally get your moneys worth.

These types of websites usually offer some hand bags up for sale-- after they've been rented out 1,000 times and, as I like to say, are "retired." But even then, if you're STILL going to spend 900+ dollars on that hand bag, wait another week's paycheck, dish out an extra hundred dollars, and buy it brand new.

The theory behind the whole process is extraordinary but in reality, purses are not CARS. They are practical works of art-- fabulous manipulations of leather, suede, and other tough materials. They carry a woman's "prized" possessions, her necessities for the day, and most of all many of her deepest secrets. You can't share that.

It's true, what they say. You never look in a woman's purse.

OUT:
-Red string bracelets
I believe these have been out for a little while now but I see them trying to hang on. They've had their final play and they're gone for good; at least until Scientology decides that red bracelets are a must-have.

IN:
-Silver and gold
Silver and gold seem classic and timely but they always reinvent themselves. Right now dazzle your wrists in silver and gold bracelets and bangles that have simple accents to them; Try diamonds and rare jewels in easy patterns/designs.

OUT:
-Thigh High boots with a short skirt/dress
For some reason this is a favorite look for Kim Kardashian and I can hardly say that she pulls it off nicely. I can't think of one person that makes high boots, 5 inches of skin, and then the hem of a mini look good.

IN:
-Knee high boots with leggings or tights
Go for the more subtle look. It's not the boots that ruin the ensemble, it's the bare leg. Try the boots with leggings or tights underneath your mini and it's sure to turn the look around. It will be more comfortable and it will look a lot less trashy.

OUT:
-Real Fur
It has nothing to do with PETA's attack on the Olsen's, I think it's just time. Not to say that no fur will be worn all year, but it seems to have faded out-- only the elitists will sport this look.

IN:
-Belted Trenches and Original pieces
Many of the celebs are sporting belted trench coats, thigh length and longer. Another hot trend is the idea of wearing original designs and patterns, people like Kate Hudson and Carmen Electra have chosen to go bold with black and white and red, grabbing a lot of attention from the paparazzi. Also looking nice are the return of men's blazers on women's bodies.

That should be enough to start your year off right!

Remember, it's not always about the changing trends, it's about how you work with what you have!

Well, Now that Christmas and New Years are out of the way.. I can finally get down to business. Expect big things in 2008, seriously.

Fashion week is already in the air-- that means stress. This season is hopefully going to be different; different shows, designers, sponsors, celeb. encounters, etc. Last season I ran in to Natasha Beddingfield (literally), Robert Verdi (always looking sexy), Nigel Barker, and before that Rachel Zoe, and so on and so on.

Anyway, I have a lot of shows that I'm looking forward to this time around but I'm so busy right now that it's going to come down to the weeks schedule and what I'm ABLE to go to.

I have a lot of projects underway too. So I'm very excited to be posting on New Years Day-- setting the tone for the rest of the fashion year!

I cannot stress enough the enormous difference between fashion and style.

Anybody who wants to be stylish can be stylish. You can buy a pair of shoes that are similar to Christian Louboutins; buy a quilted "leather" bag that looks like Chanel; or even buy a pair of wayfarers that look like ones seen on Mary Kate Olsen (which were really Ray Bans). That's being stylish.

Fashion is a different playing field. Fashion is an art; it's the intentional manipulation of fabric to create shapes, movement, imagery, and emotion. Yes, "Clothing" can create an emotional response. For example, haute couture designs by Christian Lacroix make me hold me breath; I stroke the magazine page in which they're being pictured. Am I crazy? No. They are beautifully constructed, amazing pieces of work. It's no different than someone wanting to touch the canvas of an oil panting, right?

To me, Style is the offshoot of High Fashion. Celebrities are fashionable-- they afford the real deal. Are lay persons any less important because we can't afford to kill $2,000 on a Prada purse? No. But we can afford to get the same look for an eighth of the price. That doesn't mean buying KNOCK-OFFS (I do not support the purchasing or production of any fake designer goods). Lay persons are stylish because they choose the style of the trend not necessarily the designer piece.

What catches my eye on an every-day person walking down the street? Their style-- not really what their labels say (I will admit though, sometimes I notice a nice pair Loubis before I notice a trendy hand bag).

I think I'd like to take the time to showcase a few charities that have been supported by celebrities. I think it's good to be knowledgable about a charitity before committing to one and it's important that all of your questions are answered before the final decision to donate. For that reason, many charities have website, phone lines, and available assistants to help you if you have any questions or concerns. They are very good about calming your nerves if you're concerned about your money or donation not quite getting to where it belongs.

In any case, A few charities also teamed up with celebs. to get the words out. They helped by creating merchandise that acts as a donation but gives the donator something back in return. I think it's really neat-- especially when this merchandise becomes a trend.

The ONE Campaign

The ONE Campaign blew up around last year when celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Bono, Jewel, and Lindsay Lohan jumped on the support train. They all sported the white rubber bracelet along with the ONE t-shirt. They are still available for "purchase" on the "donation/store" website if you're interested. The main page has a lot of useful information and suggests a great concept toward a good cause.

OmniPeace

OmniPeace was made popular through Kitson LA that sells the branded products online and at the boutique. Fifty percent of the sales of each branded product goes to extreme poverty in sub-Sahana Africa. Some people caught wearing OmniPeace merch. include Courtney Cox Arquette and her husband David Arquette. Kitson has products for men, women, and children. Check it out!

Invisible Children

Invisible Children is highly publicized by model/actress Zina Star. Much of her publicity using the Myspace-Method (as I call it) by posting bulletins and blogs about how to help with Invisible Children. She has also done promotional "parties/gatherings" in LA. They have a bracelet program that was installed to give jobs to poor people in Uganda to create products for people giving donations. Each bracelet comes "full circle" (as they say it) because it includes the story and hardship of a struggling child.

Alright, So my daily updates from Fashion Week didn't pan out as I had expected. I ended up being really busy with my projects for The Pulse that I didn't get a chance to update all week. In any case, Fashion Week was a blast. I got a chance to speak with Nigel Barker and I told him that I absolutely loved his work and he was an amazing photog. I'm sure he heres it all the time but I think people that work hard should be praised for their accomplishments.

I just wanted to say for a moment that I fell in love with something I recently saw on the NY Runway. I had the chance to see the Academy of Art University show and there was a designer there (forgive me for not having my program while writing this so the name is slipping my mind, I'll update it a little later when I get my act together) that was amazingly innovative and captivating. Come to think of it, I believe it was a combined attempt; one of the designers studied knits and the other was design, either way the outcome was phenomenal and I adored the pieces.

WEDNESDAY SEPT. 5

BCBG MaxAzria Spring 2008
-I love the fabric that Max Azria used in his BCBG collection this year. All of the pieces are elegant but youthful. I am so happy to see cinched waists again. I am excited for spring so that I can see these runway looks come to real life. They are extremely flattering.

ABAETE Spring 2008
-This dress is so cute. This is the perfect dress to invest in because it's perfect for any kind of party without being over or under dressed. My theory is "when in doubt, always over dress" but not everyone is comfortable with that. I love the blue and white with black interruption with the added black accessories. I also like the illusion of drapery in the bust area. It is similar to the Greek Goddess look that has come and gone already but it's not THE look. It's more subtle, more elegant.

ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH Spring 2008
-Well, I definitely see remnants of Russian culture in this line. It seems really snubbed. I adore this final piece however. I am amazed by the manipulation of fabric and usage of light to accent that fabric. The model is literally glowing and I feel like this another one of those occasion dresses. It's remarkable.

ANNE BOWEN Spring 2008
-Props to Anne Bowen for debuting at Fashion Week but I was mildly underwhelmed by her collection. At first I thought "I've seen all this before" and then I praised her creativity in changing seams and choosing less-than-elegant fabrics and making them in to dresses and gowns. However, I don't feel like she perfected this tactic-- it feels forced and looks awkward. Especially the seam line under the breast-- or is it through the breast? It looks kind of funny.

ERIN FETHERSON Spring 2008
-Erin Fetherson! Beautiful! I loved what she did for this collection. Everything is so playful and fun but it's beautiful and wearable. I had a hard time picking just one thing to put on here but I really commend her spring collection. It's absolutely phenomenal.

NAUTICA Spring 2008
-I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by Nautica this year. I think the collection is sexy. It's flamboyant but tasteful and classy. I really like it. I love being able to see Men's Wear that is fit for a manly man or a girly man. Either way-- Nautica hit the spot for me.

PERRY ELLIS Spring 2008
-Another perfectly executed Men's Collection. I think that Perry Ellis did a GREAT job of making all of the pieces versatile in a positive way. Each garment can be mixed and matched with the rest of garments of the collection and I think that is so important while shopping for spring clothes. I'm not so sure I'm feeling the plaid shorts with jacket though. Something about those shorts make me scream "BOXERS!" Which can be good or bad, depending on your mood.

TONI MATICEVSKI Spring 2008
-I don't like a lot of the uneven, big, small, mixed up ruffles going on. I do however love the fabric choices. I like the opaque shimmer on top of the subtle neutral. It looks very classy. I'm not too familiar with this designer but he didn't WOW me. I'm impressed with the craftsmanship though. Kudos!

That seems to be all for today-- I'm a little behind so hopefully tomorrow's post will be a little more organized. I must say, I am impressed by the upcoming trends for spring. cinched waste with thin belt.. shimmery fabrics.. short hemlines.. tight fits.. It's going to get better-- I can tell.

Fashion Week is in the air..

September is just around the corner and Fashion Week is quickly approaching. I'm so excited. I love the aura in the air when Fashion Week is in full swing. I'm really hoping to be able to go again this year-- well.. this season. Last time I went I was a little disappointed. Fall seems like it's so bland sometimes but this Fashion Week will be showcasing the designers' Spring Collections. That means, colors, lightweights, and new fun accessories.

I'm planning to attend the Academy of Art University fashion show which will be showing some students' latest work. I want to be able to report on some new faces that I hope to see storming the fashion industry.

I'll just have to wait and see. Until then, I'm working on a great piece for The Pulse Magazine. Check it out if you're in the area. Hopefully I'll get my hands on a copy and I'll scan it up!

Crash and Burn

Poor Lindsay Lohan.

I can't even find myself to feel bad for her because.. well, I don't know why. I'm just so sick of hearing about her and seeing her face all over the place but at the same time I just can't seem to get enough. It's pathetic but seriously, I'm just tired of hearing about celebrities and how they're screwing up this and doing that and messing up something else.. Sometimes I wish I could go out to a nice lunch with one of these girls and slap some sense in to her-- and then party and realize that there was no point in anything I just said.

I think that people should also stop hating on that fact that Paris is "dumb" or that Nicole is "anorexic" and that Mary-Kate and Ashley need to wash their hair-- besides me, WHO CARES? No body follows you around all day taking pictures and then posting them on the internet and then tells you to change everything about yourself and your life (except maybe Cory Kennedy but I suppose she is an exception to the "rules").

Speaking of Cory Kennedy.. I have always been rubbed the wrong way by her.. perhaps it was my jealousy that she became famous simply by having her picture on the internet (and then went on to actually do something worth recognition, so props to her) but I read her blog and the article posted that was "IT Girl Interupted" and I was pleasantly surprised to read her story. Now, I like her. If I can even use that terminology considering I do not know her, or any of the people I write about for that matter. In any case.. That is all.

Poor woman,

I was never a huge fan of her but it is really unfortunate that she died. I feel so bad for her, she's been through so much in her life only to die before 40. Her daughter is left in a conversial life and doesn't even know who the father is or who she's going to end up with. Her old man husband died, her son died, she died... it's really a sad story.

New York Fashion Week

I went to day 6 of fashion week today.. i'm tired.

We only RSVPed for Ports1961 so that's all we got in to (huge mistake). We hung around in the main area though for a few hours catching people as they left other shows. I'm mad because we left early and the Olsen twins showed up after we left. Huge bummer, I really wanted to see them. Oh well.. There were some good people over there today, nice day.. VERY nice day. I'm happy.

Fendi

I felt like an update was in need and to pre-kick-off fashion week, I felt like I should update the handbag fanatics out there:

REALLY hot right are Fendi bags. Fendi has some AMAZING bags/clutches/satchels right now. The source for my findings is Nordstrom.com but clearly there are many other places to find luxurious Fendi.

-One of my personal favorites. It's small so that it can be taken for a night out on the town or to a fancy dinner party but it's also chic and trendy so that it could be used for a run to the super market or a slow paced day at the office. Priced at $920.00 it seems like this small bundle of fashion is worth it.

-Even though the metallic look this season can be overwhelming for some of those more traditional types, it really is an all-around look that screams out "IN." If you don't know what I mean, the metallic bag is extremely fashion-forward because it is a bold and innovative statement. It can jazz up a simple denim ensemble or it can be handy for a night of partying; it's big enough to be a carry-all but it's sleek design and loud metallic color is enough to dismiss the fact that you brought a large bag to a party. $2,230.00

-For those of you who are less likely to do something outside of your personal box, there is still the simple Zucca Spy Satchel. It can go with any kind of casual look and is functional for all of your on-the-go needs. It's monogram patterned exterior allows the bag to blend with any ever-day look or an evening event. It best serves as a day bag but in certain cases it can be very appropriate for a family dinner or casual dining out. With a price tag of just $1,800.00, it's no wonder that this bag is a Fendi-fan favorite.

All in all, I like what the designers are doing in terms of handbags. Instead of running along with one particular style, they are incorporating the clutch, satchel, and hand bag in to all of their looks. This makes it easier for people to buy bags for every occasion as well as have a wider selection. Fabulous!
